Attention GM Retirees on Medicare! Presented by Senior Benefits Group & Alberland Partners, LLC
GMRA understands the crucial choices that are facing those who are enrolled in Medicare Advantage programs that are being eliminated or becoming drastically more expensive. While GMRA does not, and cannot, recommend any insurance provider or product, we want you to be aware of an opportunity to gather information about available options for the upcoming year. In order to address the concerns of our members, Alberland Partners, LLC, the group that handled many of our Medicare questions in 2009, will again offer informational sessions. The sessions will be hosted by Senior Benefits Group, a retirement benefits consulting firm that specializes in Medicare strategies and benefit continuation, and has expertise in insurance options from a variety of insurance providers. Senior Benefits Group has experience working with General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler salaried retirees who lost benefits in the last few years. As a non-captive group, they are able to work with almost every carrier and program. Senior Benefits Groups’ specialists will be available at each session to give participants an unbiased analysis and one-on-one guidance based on their personal circumstances. In case you didn’t know: 1.As of June 1, 2010, the Medicare Modernization Act was implemented, changing the standardized benefit chart and allowing carriers to re-price their programs. If you purchased a Medicare supplement plan prior to this date, you are almost certainly over-paying for less coverage. The new programs include new coverage options that the old programs do not. 2.Private fee-for-service options, available on the Medicare Advantage platform, are being cut dramatically, with several popular programs, including BCBS’s Medicare Plus Blue options A and B, officially dropping all enrollees effective of Dec. 31,2010. Clients who are losing coverage have a “guaranteed issue” privilege, meaning they can restore their original Medicare benefits and enroll in a supplement with no health questions. 3.New benefits are available in the traditional Medicare supplement plans, including high deductible plans, which could represent savings for healthy seniors. In addition, some carriers offer an “issue age” plan that does not adjust its premium as seniors’ age. 4.Several notable carriers have had significant rate increases this year, with many enrollees paying nearly double the premium they signed up for just two years ago.It has never been more important to shop the market thoroughly and find a modernized plan that offers increased stability going forward. “Medicare Solutions Workshops” are designed to help you determine coverage options that will best fit your personal situation. As always, the goal of Senior Benefits Group is to “serve” as opposed to “sell.” Participants who would like to have a personalized consultation will be able to schedule an appointment. The sessions are open to all retirees, including those who are not GMRA members. Please forward this message to anyone you feel might benefit from this information. Retirees who are members of a retirement “club” related to the “big three” or otherwise, are invited to consider a Medicare Solutions Workshop for club members at a location that is convenient for members. Contact Kevin Tunison at the number listed below for more information and to schedule a workshop. Please remember, if you have not had an update since June 1, 2010 you are most likely overpaying for your Medicare program.
