General Motors Co. has named a new U.S. vice president for customer experience, the first of its kind at the world's largest automaker. 

Paul Copses will assume the newly created role Oct.1 and will lead the company's efforts to win and secure car buyers for GM's four brands — Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac.
