This is an update regarding claims and recent objections (to claims) filed by Motors Liquidation in the GM bankruptcy case. Objections to claims for the loss of benefits – health and life insurance as well as others – are being filed with the court. At this point, the objections are based on 1) Benefits being assumed by new GM, and 2) The right of new GM to amend or terminate those benefits. Some claimants have received formal notice of objections, with a deadline for response.Responses are required to numerous parties via disk and hard copies. The requirements for responding to the objections (procedure and timing) are included in the notice and objection notice. They are also available online at: http://docs.motorsliquidationdocket.com/pdflib/6737_50026.pdf http://docs.motorsliquidationdocket.com/pdflib/6740_50026.pdf Neither GMRA, its board members or its members, can offer legal advice to claimants, nor does GMRA intend to retain legal counsel to represent the claimants in the GM bankruptcy case.Claimants should consider retaining legal counsel to advise and/or represent themselves in their claims and the objections. |
