GM has confirmed that a provision of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (health care reform law) that includes coverage of dependents up to age 26 – a provision that is provided to all other Americans in group plans – does not apply to “retiree-only” health care programs.

GM salaried retirees are currently covered by a “salaried only” plan sponsored by GM. Inclusion of the provision for retiree groups, is at the discretion of each individual company.
